Of these, approximately 6 million people die from sepsis. In low- and middle-income countries, the burden of sepsis is higher and represents one of the main causes of maternal and neonatal death. (5) In Peru, there are no systematized national epidemiological data on morbidity and mortality associated with sepsis. In primary studies carried out in different hospitals in Peru, it was determined that the mortality rate associated with sepsis varies from 25.3% to 40%, increasing according to the risk factors associated with each population studied.(6)
