    Low back pain is defined as a set of signs and symptoms or a musculoskeletal syndrome, with the primary symptom being localized pain in the lower back or lumbar area. This area is situated between the lower rib cage, the sacral region, and occasionally involves the gluteal region. The pain in the lumbar area can present in two forms: acute pain, which is caused by traumatic injury or moderate strain, and chronic pain, which lasts for more than three months. The difference between acute and chronic low back pain is that the acute form involves cognitive, emotional, and social factors influencing the pain. To evaluate the intensity of low back pain, the Visual Analog Scale (VAS), described by Scott and Huskinsson in 1976, is used. This scale presents pain intensity levels, is easy to use, and has been proven to be reproducible and sensitive, allowing patients to express their pain level with a score.
