    Seguimiento farmacoterapéutico y su relación con el uso de antimicrobianos en pacientes pediátricos hospitalizados del hospital de emergencias pediátricas 2023-2024

    The irrational use of antimicrobials (ATM) in hospitals is one of the main causes of antimicrobial resistance. This is aggravated by the lack of adequate pharmacotherapeutic follow up, affecting treatments and health. Objective: To determine how pharmacotherapeutic follow up is related to the use of antimicrobials in pediatric patients hospitalized in the Pediatric Emergency Hospital during the year 2023-2024. Method: A quantitative study, applied type and relational level with a non-experimental and cross-sectional design, carried out with a sample of 292 medical records from a pediatric hospital in Lima. Results: The aspects of pharmacotherapeutic follow-up related to the use of antimicrobials are: age (30.9%), comorbidity history (21.1%), previous exposure to antimicrobials (19.9%), hospitalization diagnosis (40.4%), % of administered doses (32.9%), length of hospital stay (44.4%), time of ATM administration (42.1%), type of antimicrobial prescribed (55.5%), resistance pattern (21.1%). Conclusion: Pharmacotherapeutic follow-up is significantly related to the use of antimicrobials because it improves the understanding of the disease and its treatment.
