Ítem Acceso abierto Burnout and engagement in nursing students at Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, Lima - 2018.(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2019-01-21) Domínguez Perla, Angélica Nathaly; Mendoza Lucho, Julissa Milagros; Matta Solis, Hernan HugoMaterials and Methods: This study follows a quantitative approach, and regarding the study design, it is non-experimental, correlational, and cross-sectional. The population consisted of 563 nursing students. The instruments used were the (MBI-SS), which allows for assessing the level of burnout in students, and the (UWES), which measures the level of engagement in students. Results: Academic burnout and academic engagement have a slightly positive relationship, as the Spearman correlation coefficient (Rho) is 0.101 (p = 0.009). A medium level of burnout was found overall (97.5%), with the dimensions showing medium levels in emotional exhaustion (74%), low levels in cynicism (79%), and medium levels in inefficacy (65%). Regarding engagement, a high level was found overall (58.1%), with the dimensions showing very high levels in vigor (46.9%), dedication (49.6%), and absorption (79.6%). Conclusions: Academic burnout and academic engagement show a slight relationship, with burnout predominating at a medium level and engagement at a high level.
