Publicación Acceso abierto Conocimientos y razones del consumo de benzodiacepinas en usuarios que acuden a los establecimientos farmacéuticos de San Martin de Porres, Lima enero-febrero 2025(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2025-07-04) Menendez Figueroa, Edwin Cluber; Parreño Tipián, Juan ManuelThis study sought to determine the level of knowledge and reasons for benzodiazepine use among users who visit pharmacies in San Martin de Porres. The methodology used was basic, quantitative, descriptive, with a sample of 384 participants. The results showed that most of the respondents had intermediate or limited knowledge about their use, with 47.66% at the medium level and 42.44% at the low level, while only 9.90% had high knowledge. Likewise, it was observed that most users consume benzodiazepines for moderate reasons, representing 80.73%, followed by 11.20% at the low level and 8.07% at the high level, suggesting that, although consumption is present, most do so for moderate reasons and not extreme or minimal ones. Therefore, it was conclusively observed that the majority of participants stated that they took benzodiazepines mainly to relieve psychological or mental distress, leading to the conclusion that there is a clear need to improve education on the correct use and risks associated with these drugs.
