    Self-medication with antibiotics is a very common practice, yet the population lacks information about adverse reactions. The objective of this study was to determine the relationship between self-medication with antibiotics and adverse reactions in adults visiting drugstores in the Lurigancho-Chosica district in 2021. Methodology: The study had a non-experimental, observational, cross-sectional, and prospective design with a quantitative approach. An assisted survey was applied to 300 individuals who visited the 20 assigned drugstores. Results: 75.67% of respondents self-medicated with antibiotics sometimes and 24.33% occasionally, while 94% experienced adverse reactions sometimes. 37.3% reported sometimes using old prescriptions, 90% indicated that economic factors influence self-medication, and 38% sometimes self-medicated with antibiotics based on recommendations from others. Regarding specific symptoms, 11% sometimes experienced pruritus and 8.3% always did. Similarly, 11.7% sometimes had dizziness and 11.3% always did. 24.3% always experienced nausea, and 8.3% sometimes. Conclusion: The relationship between adverse reactions and self-medication with antibiotics is affirmed.
