Publicación Acceso abierto Cultura de seguridad del paciente adulto mayor y prevención de eventos adversos del profesional de salud en el Hospital Policial Geriátrico San José en Lima, 2023(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2024-04-02) Millones Tadeo, Fany Victoria; Millones Gomez, Segundo GermanThe present study focused on analyzing the relationship between the safety culture of the elderly patient and the prevention of adverse events of the health professional at the San José Geriatric Police Hospital in Lima. A non-experimental, correlational and transversal research approach was adopted, covering a sample of 80 health professionals from the aforementioned hospital. To evaluate the safety culture, the Hospital Survey on Patient Safety Culture questionnaire from the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality was used, composed of 3 sections, which assess 51 items that address 12 dimensions, and where the measurement scale was validated using criteria of relevance, relevance and clarity, supported by Cronbach's alpha coefficient. Statistical analysis was based on Spearman's Rho coefficient. Among the main findings, a positive perception stood out in various dimensions related to the safety culture and the prevention of adverse events at the PNP San José Geriatric Hospital. A significant correlation was found between the safety culture of the elderly patient and the prevention of adverse events, as well as with their respective dimensions. In conclusion, it is evident that the PNP San José Geriatric Hospital has established a solid safety culture, which highlights the need to implement specific strategies to further strengthen this culture and prevent adverse events, thus promoting a safer and patient-centered hospital environment.
