Ítem Acceso abierto Attachment styles and intimate partner violence in students of communication sciences of a public university of Ayacucho 2023(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2024-05-08) Molina Cardenas, Alzira; Reyes Callahuacho, David TitoThis study aimed to determine the association between attachment styles and partner violence in students from the Communication Sciences program at a public university in Ayacucho. The research was basic, with a correlational level, non-experimental, cross-sectional design. The sample consisted of 189 students who were administered the Adult Attachment Scale in Couples (MICE) and the Dating Violence Questionnaire (CUVINO). The findings revealed that students who reported perceiving a low level of violence in their relationships also exhibited anxious (82.3%) and avoidant (87.9%) attachment styles. It was also determined that partner violence is significantly associated (x2 = 23.251; p = 0.000 < 0.05) with attachment styles. It is concluded that students who develop anxious and avoidant attachment styles tend to resort to violence as the only mechanism to solve difficult situations, in contrast to those with secure attachment who show less propensity to use violence.
