Ítem Acceso abierto Effectiveness of hydrogen peroxide sterilization interventions in ensuring the sterilization of medical instruments contaminated with prions(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2018-12-02) Carrascal Herrera, Wendy Elizabeth; Montoro Chilet, Jhons Erick; Bonilla Asalde, César AntonioMaterials and methods: The type of study is quantitative, the study design is a systematic review, where the search has been restricted to articles with full text, the population was made up of 16 articles and the sample was 7 articles. Various articles were found scientists and for this the Lilacs, Cochrane, Intramed, PubMed, Epistemonikos database was used. A critical and intensive evaluation of each article was carried out, from which the quality of the evidence and the strength of recommendation for each article was determined through the GRADE method. Results: Of all the 7 articles reviewed, 86% (n= 6/7) evidence the effectiveness of sterilization with hydrogen peroxide in ensuring the sterilization of medical instruments contaminated with prions. 24% (1/7) evidence the effectiveness of hydrogen peroxide as a decontaminant. Conclusion: The studies show the effectiveness of interventions in sterilization with hydrogen peroxide to ensure the sterilization of medical instruments and in general all medical devices, at risk and/or contamination with prions in sterilization centers.
