Ítem Acceso abierto Performance of the Genotype MTBDRplus test for the diagnosis of multidrug resistance in patients affected by tuberculosis at the Piedra Liza Maternal and Child Center from January-June 2020(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2023-04-16) Morón Porras, Oscar Arturo; Cabello Vílchez, Alfonso MartinTuberculosis caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis can lead to resistance to first-line drugs due to various factors. Among diagnostic methods, the most common are bacilloscopy and conventional culture. Recently, methods like the GENOTYPE MTBDRplus test have been used to detect multidrug resistance. Objective: To assess the performance of the GENOTYPE MTBDRplus test for diagnosing multidrug resistance in tuberculosis patients at the Piedra Liza Maternal-Child Center during January to June 2020. Methodology: The research method is hypothetical-deductive, qualitative, non-experimental, observational, and cross-sectional. A total of 155 patients were considered for the study. Statistical descriptive tools were used. Results: 55.5% of patients were male, 44.5% were female. The study showed resistance to Isoniazid in 14.2% and to Rifampicin in 4.5%. The GENOTYPE method detected more resistance to Isoniazid. Both methods showed similar sensitivity to Isoniazid. Conclusion: The GENOTYPE test is highly reliable and provides faster results for diagnosing multidrug-resistant tuberculosis, leading to timely treatment.
