    Effectiveness of mastectomy with immediate breast reconstruction to improve quality of life in breast cancer patients

    Objective: Analyze and systematize the evidence on the effectiveness of mastectomy with immediate breast reconstruction to improve quality of life in patients with breast cancer. Materials and Methods: 10 scientific articles found in the databases: Cochrane, Pubmed, Epistemonikos, Intramed and Scielo. Type of research, 30% meta-analysis, 20% systematic reviews, 50% randomized clinical studies. 30% of the evidence comes from China, 10% Canada, 10% Netherlands, 10% United Kingdom, 10% Australia, 10% Ireland, 10% France, 10% South Korea. Results: 90% (n= 9/10) of these indicate that mastectomy with immediate breast reconstruction is effective, improving the quality of life in patients with breast cancer, in terms of survival free of local cancer recurrence, safety oncology. 10% (n= 1/10) of this evidence shows a negative impact on cancer recurrence rates and oncological safety. Conclusion: It is evident that mastectomy with immediate breast reconstruction is effective in improving the quality of life in patients with breast cancer, in terms of survival free of local cancer recurrence, oncological safety and that it additionally improves the aesthetic perception in women who have been subjected to this surgical intervention.
