Publicación Acceso abierto Implementación de historias clínicas electrónicas y la eficiencia operativa en consultorios odontológicos: simulación con Bizagi Modeler, Lima, 2025(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2026-03-19) Noriega Palomino, Daniel Carlos; Pretell Aguilar, Rosa MaríaThe objective of this research was to determine the effect of Implementing Electronic Health Records (EHR) on operational efficiency—cycle time per patient and cost per cycle—in dental clinics. This study employed a quantitative and applied method, under a descriptive comparative modeling and simulation design. The current process flow (AS-IS) was mapped, and the proposed scenario (TO-BE) was designed using the BPMN standard in Bizagi Modeler software, parameterizing routes, times, and costs through the TDABC model. The simulation was configured with a horizon of 150 instances (iterations) for both scenarios, yielding compelling results: the average cycle time was reduced from 104.24 to 71.51 min (−31.40%), also indicating lower variability as the maximum decreased from 155.60 to 97.00 min. Likewise, the total cost fell from S/ 8,201.60 to S/ 5,665.58 (−30.92%), driven by a 35.91% saving in time-dependent costs (HR). The improvement is explained by the replacement of manual tasks (physical record retrieval, manual issuance) with automated digital operations. It is concluded that EHR, integrated into a process redesign, substantially optimizes operational efficiency in the evaluated models. These findings constitute a validation through scenario analysis that guides the adjustment of schedules and roles to capture the released capacity.
