    Relationship between urinary tract infections and premature rupture of membranes in pregnant women served at Hospital de apoyo Chepén – 2018

    This study aimed to determine the relationship between urinary tract infections (UTI) and premature rupture of membranes (PROM), conducted at the Hospital de Apoyo Chepén in 2018. The research is descriptive, retrospective, and correlational, analyzing medical records of attended patients. The data collection instrument showed the following results: Ages 11-19 years (21.56%), 20-30 years (51.96%), over 30 years (26.48%). Educational level: illiterate (0.98%), incomplete primary (4.9%), complete primary (6.87%), incomplete secondary (43.13%), complete secondary (11.76%), incomplete higher education (21.56%), complete higher education (10.78%). Marital status: single (6.86%), married (7.84%), cohabiting (85.3%). UTI: Asymptomatic bacteriuria (93.14%), acute pyelonephritis (6.86%). PROM: 17.65% had PROM, 82.35% did not. Gestational weeks with PROM: 24 weeks (11.1%), 25-31 weeks (5.5%), 32-36 weeks (27.7%), 37+ weeks (55.5%). Conclusion: No significant relationship between UTI and PROM.
