Publicación Acceso abierto Uso de la plataforma social - educativa Edmodo para mejorar la comprensión lectora de las áreas de matemáticas y lengua castellana en estudiantes de secundaria de la Institución Educativa Dindalito Centro Tolima, 2014(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2017-12-19) Olaya García, Educardo; Triana Forero, María Yuliana; Méndez Toledo, Heimer AliThis research aims to improve the reading comprehension of the students at the Dindalito High School in Espinal Tolima, through the use of Edmodo Learning Platform, as a strategy to overcome the deficiencies observed in the academic reality of the sixth and seventh graders of secondary basic education. The methodology used on this study was quantitative approach, of preexperimental design, based on the information collected through the survey as a technique of data collection; a pretest and post test were applied over 75 students from sixth and seventh grades who represent 46.58% of the population, that is integrated by 161 students from primary and secondary level. The information collected was tabulated through absolute and relative frequency tables and circular diagrams. The results got on the research stage determined that the use of EDMODO as a technological tool contributed significantly in the reading comprehension of the students who were the object of research in subjects such as mathematics and Spanish language, which answered the research question. This study was an applied research and explanatory level, since it was tried to understand the educational problem, and then generate new knowledge that contributed to the solution of the problem of the social reality at school. This was evidenced making a comparison in the information got in the pre-test and post test taking into account the different dimensions of the second variable. In this manner, It is possible to say that the use of the social learning platform EDMODO had an influence on the development ofstudents’ interest on the reading, since 80% of the study sample sometimes was (45.33%) and always (34 , 66%) practiced the reading different kind of texts, and 77.33% of the students said that they prefered to read narrative or descriptive texts; In addition, it influenced hugely on the strengthening of reading comprehension skill, since 73.33% of the students were able to understand the texts they read; over 78.66% read between one and two times a text to understand it and 68% did not have difficulty to understand a mathematics problem; Therefore, the use of the social learning platform EDMODO had a notable influence on the interest for reading, reading comprehension skill, literal comprehension and inferential comprehension that allowed the improvement of reading comprehension in subjects such as mathematics and Spanish language on the students of sixth and seventh grade in 2014 at Dindalito school in Espinal.
