Ítem Acceso abierto Effectiveness of an early stimulation program for the motor development of children under 5 years old(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2018-08-26) Olortegui Leon, Luzmila; Valencia Llashag, Estefani Lucero; Bonilla Asalde, César AntonioObjective: To systematize the evidence on the effectiveness of an early stimulation program for the motor development of children under 5 years old. Materials and Methods: A systematic, observational, and retrospective review that synthesizes the results of multiple primary studies. These are an essential part of evidence-based nursing due to their rigorous methodology, identifying relevant studies to answer specific clinical practice questions. The search was limited to full-text articles, and the selected articles underwent critical reading, using the GRADE system to assign the strength of recommendations. Results: In the final selection, 10 articles on the effectiveness of an early stimulation program for the motor development of children under 5 years old were chosen. These were found in the databases SciELO, MEDLINE, PubMed, Cochrane, EBSCO, and LILACS. The selection included 1 systematic review and meta-analysis, 2 randomized clinical trials, 4 experimental studies, 1 quasi-experimental study, 1 cohort study, and 1 cross-sectional study. 20% of the evidence comes from Serbia, with 10% from Australia, Mexico, Peru, Norway, China, Ecuador, Germany, and Brazil, respectively. Conclusions: 8 of the 10 articles analyzed show that early stimulation is effective for the motor development of children under 5 years old. 20% (2/10) report that no positive effect was found from the early stimulation program.
