Objective: To determine the risk factors for intrauterine fetal death at the María Auxiliadora Support Hospital from 2005 to 2010. Materials and Methods: Epidemiological, analytical, case-control study. Results: The fetal death rate per 1,000 live births during the study period was 20.7. Preconceptional variables significantly associated with statistically significant odds ratios (OR) included adolescents (6.8), elderly women (4.6), nulliparity (11.8), marital status (4.7), and illiteracy (8.76). Conceptional variables with significant ORs included lack of prenatal care (17.1), anemia (7.21), placenta previa (6.91), multiple pregnancy (6.75), heart disease (6.03), eclampsia (5.37), premature rupture of membranes (5.14), cephalopelvic disproportion (4.53), premature placental abruption (4.70), urinary tract infection (4.24), preeclampsia (4.13), prolonged labor (4.04), intrauterine growth restriction (3.36), and diabetes (2.69). Intrapartum variables with significant results included breech presentation (3.49) and prolonged labor (6.65). Conclusions: There are important preconceptional, conceptional, and intrapartum risk factors for fetal death. Reducing these factors could significantly decrease fetal mortality.

Objective: To analyze the morbidity and mortality in patients with HELLP syndrome treated at the Gynecology and Obstetrics Department of Hospital María Auxiliadora, July–December 2015. Materials and Methods: A descriptive, retrospective, cross-sectional study was conducted. A total of 31 medical records of patients diagnosed with HELLP syndrome meeting the inclusion and exclusion criteria were reviewed. Data were collected using a validated data collection form, representing 100% of the medical records of patients diagnosed with HELLP syndrome. Results: Among the 31 patients studied, 64.5% were aged between 20 and 34 years, 64.5% had completed secondary education, and 74.2% were cohabiting. HELLP syndrome was associated with a high maternal morbidity rate (96.8%), with anemia being the most common complication (64.5%), followed by placental abruption (19.4%), ascites, and adult respiratory distress syndrome, both at 16.1%. One case of maternal death was recorded. Conclusions: HELLP syndrome is associated with a high rate of maternal morbidity, primarily related to anemia and placental abruption, while maternal mortality remains relatively low.

Degree of depression in adolescent pregnant women and its relation to neonatal outcomes at María Auxiliadora Hospital, January – July 2018
(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2024-01-08) Baylón Leithert, José Daniel; Orderique Torres, Luis Fernando
Analytical cross-sectional cohort study conducted on a population of 50 pregnant adolescents from 37 weeks onwards, aged between 10 and 19 years. The Zung test was applied along with maternal socio-demographic characteristics and newborn data. 60% of the study participants were 17 years old. Regarding the presence of depression, the results showed that 86% of patients had no depression, while 14% had mild to moderate depression, out of four possible outcomes: depression within normal limits, mild to moderate depression, moderate to severe depression, and severe depression. Among the neonates, 74% had a good birth weight, and in the tests performed (APGAR TEST, SILVERMAN TEST, and CAPURRO TEST), a significant score was evidenced in two out of three tests and intervening factors.

Delayed umbilical cord clamping and hemoglobin concentration in newborns at Hospital María Auxiliadora, May - June 2014
(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 1905-07-07) Arroyo Fernandez, Milagritos Avelinda; Orderique Torres, Luis Fernando
In the present study, a methodology is used to determine the sociodemographic, cultural, and economic characteristics of women over 18 years old who had an abortion at the Hipólito Unanue National Hospital between January and October of 2015. It was revealed that the sociodemographic characteristics include: early age, cohabiting marital status, secondary education level, currently working, being from the coastal region, residing in El Agustino, and experiencing psychological family pressure due to economic instability. Additionally, the cultural characteristics highlighted include: machismo, due to the lack of partner participation in household chores, a situation unfortunately justified by the respondents; and the Catholic religion, which most respondents profess. Finally, the most notable economic characteristics are: a monthly income between 600 and 1000 soles, monthly expenses less than 600 soles, three people living in the household, no economic dependency, two family members contributing to household expenses, and living in a brick-built house. Keywords: Abortion, Sociodemographic Characteristics, Cultural Characteristics, Economic Characteristics

Effectiveness of the educational program: "Sexual education and healthy communities" in 4th and 5th-year high school adolescents at Institución Educativa Tungasuca – Carabayllo, 2014
(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 1905-07-07) López Infantes, Jacqueline; Melgar Vega, Katherine Dayllan; Orderique Torres, Luis Fernando
Objective: To determine the effectiveness of the Educational Program "Sexual Education and Healthy Communities" on the level of knowledge and attitudes regarding sexual and reproductive health in 4th- and 5th-year high school adolescents. Material and Method: The study is quantitative, applied level, using a quasi-experimental method. Fourteen educational sessions were conducted with an intentional sample of 218 students aged 13 to 18 years. Data collection was carried out through a multiple-choice questionnaire and a Likert scale, applied before and after the intervention. Data processing and analysis were performed using SPSS 15.0 statistical software. Results: Before the educational program, 37% and 35% of students had very low and low levels of knowledge, respectively. After the program, 42% achieved an average level of knowledge. Regarding attitudes, they remained neutral ("neither in favor nor against") in both the pre- and post-test. However, there was a shift from neutral attitudes to favorable and highly favorable attitudes in 42% of the participants. Conclusions: The Educational Program "Sexual Education and Healthy Communities" is effective (Student's t-test: t(413) = 8.798, p = .038 and t(434) = 2.682, p < .001) as it led to an increase in the level of knowledge and changes in favorable attitudes.
