    Moringa oleífera como complemento de los medicamentos utilizados en la prevención del COVID-19 en adultos del distrito de Los Olivos, Lima 2020

    The objective of this study is to determine how Moringa oleífera is used as a preventive measure and as a complement to medications to prevent COVID-19 in adults from the district of Los Olivos, Lima, 2020. Methodology: The study was quantitative and basic in type. Method and design: Deductive, cross-sectional-retrospective, descriptive, and non-experimental. The population consisted of 388,538 people, and the sample was composed of 384 inhabitants based on a formula. A questionnaire with 19 closed-ended questions was applied. Results: Adults aged 30–59 years (54.2%) used Moringa oleífera the most, followed by young people aged 18–29 years (37.2%). Women were the main users of the plant (65.6%). People with hypertension also used it (5.7%). Additionally, 71.9% (p=0.000) associated it with medications, and the main reason for its use was to boost the immune system (62.8%, p=0.000). Among medications, paracetamol (60.7%, p=0.001) was the most commonly used alongside Moringa oleífera. Conversely, medications such as azithromycin, ivermectin, and dexamethasone were not widely used with Moringa oleífera. Conclusion: It was determined that more than 50% of respondents used Moringa oleífera as a preventive measure for COVID-19 and as a complement to medications to avoid the disease, with the study being statistically significant.
