Ítem Acceso abierto Social support and health-related quality of life in women with breast cancer attending the oncology clinic of the Edgardo Rebagliati Martins Hospital, Lima 2017.(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2018-05-24) Moyano Antón, Claudia Andrea; Orozco Quispe, Maggi Yoana; Pérez Siguas, Rosa EvaObjective: Determine the relationship between social support and health-related quality of life in women with breast cancer who attend the oncology clinic at the Edgardo Rebagliati Martins Hospital. Material and method: The present study has a quantitative approach, in terms of design it is a non-experimental, correlational study of a cross-sectional and observational nature. The population was 127 women. The instruments were questionnaires: MOS perceived social support, and the SF-36 for health-related quality of life, with 43 questions. Results: A total of 127 women with an average age of 54.7% participated. The level of education was secondary 81.1%. Regarding occupation, 78.7% were housewives. In relation to a history of breast cancer 81.9%. The quality of life related to health was very high at 48.8%, the dimension with the highest score was mental health 72.4% very high. Social support was 72.4% high and in terms of dimensions, 55.1% was low in the instrumental social support and social interaction dimension; 53.5% were low in the social emotional support dimension, 50.4% low in the emotional support dimension. Spearman's bivariate correlation statistical test was +0.746, indicating a strong, statistically significant directly proportional relationship between both variables. Conclusions: There is a significant moderate directly proportional relationship between social support and health-related quality of life.
