Ítem Acceso abierto Diagnosis of tuberculosis by smear microscopy and the quality of sputum sample obtained from patients at the Regional Teaching Hospital of Cajamarca 2023(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2024-06-02) Ortiz Lumba, Jhanila; García Vásquez, Carlos HugoTuberculosis is a contagious disease transmitted through the air when an infected person coughs, sneezes, or speaks. One of the most common methods is sputum smear microscopy due to its quick, cost-effective, and efficient diagnosis, which depends heavily on the quality of the sputum sample, techniques, and procedures. Early diagnosis of active tuberculosis is essential to interrupt the transmission chain. Moreover, the quality of the sputum sample plays a fundamental role in the outcome, as an accurate and reliable diagnosis heavily relies on the quality of the sample.
