Ítem Acceso abierto Effectiveness of catheter clamping prior to removal in critically ill patients in the ICU(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2021-10-03) Osorio Alvarez, María Esther; Suarez Valderrama, Yurik AnatoliObjective: Systematize information on the effectiveness of Urinary Catheter Clamping before its removal, in critically ill patients in the intensive care unit. Material and Methods: Systematic quantitative retrospective observational review, the degree of evidence was identified using the Grade Evaluation System, found in the following databases: PubMed, Sciencedirect, Cochrane, Scielo, Wiley Online Library, Elsevier, Epistemonikos. Of the 10 articles systematically reviewed, 80% are RCTs, 10% are quasi-experimental; and 10% are systematic reviews. The results of the present study; 50% correspond to the country of China, 10% Turkey, 10% Taiwan, 10% Sweden, 10% South Korea, and 10% Greece. Results: 50% (n=5/10) of the articles show significant statistics in relation to the topic, because the volume of residual urine in 24 hours increases; better subjective perception during the first postoperative urination, causes a significant positive effect on storage symptoms. The other 50% (n=5/10) of the articles do not show any significant statistics. Conclusion: Half of the articles reviewed show that clamping the urinary catheter before its removal is effective, while the other half does not show any advantage in this regard.
