Ítem Acceso abierto Effectiveness of electronic nursing records in the quality of healthcare for hospitalized patients(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2018-08-26) Luján Rodríguez, Mónica Karina; Pachas Mesias, Elva Maritza; Pretell Aguilar, Rosa MariaObjective: To analyze and systematize the evidence on the effectiveness of electronic nursing records in the quality of healthcare for hospitalized patients. Methodology: A systematic review of 10 scientific articles was conducted using the following databases: BVS, Elsevier, LILACS, Scielo, Google Scholar, PubMed, and Epistemonikos. The article search was restricted to full-text articles, which were subjected to critical reading using the Sistema Grade evaluation to identify their level of evidence. According to the design type, 50% were cross-sectional descriptive studies, 20% systematic reviews, 10% experimental, 10% action research, and 10% longitudinal descriptive studies. Results: Of the 10 articles reviewed, 100% (n=10/10) show that electronic nursing records are highly effective in improving the quality of patient care. This implies the following: they enhance interprofessional communication, that is, coordination with other disciplines to improve continuity of care and the care process; they have a significant impact; they increase time efficiency; they favor cost-effectiveness; and they serve as a strategy that promotes improvement in the quality of care. Conclusions: Electronic nursing records are highly effective and have a significant impact on the quality of care for hospitalized patients, as they provide care and interventions with planned outcomes.
