Emotional Intelligence and work stress in nurses in the surgical center of a hospital in Huaral, Lima – 2023

Introduction: Most nurses have an important responsibility in their workplace due to their emotional nature, which helps them maintain complete attention without giving up their ability to manage emotions for the benefit of the patient. Objective: Determine the relationship that exists between emotional intelligence and work stress in the Nurses of the surgical center of a Hospital in Huaral. Methodology: It will be a non-experimental method, of a descriptive correlational type, with a quantitative approach and a hypothetical-deductive method. The population and sample will be formed by nurses who work at the Huaral Hospital and are assigned to the surgical center. And the sample will be the total census population. Technique: the data collection technique will be the survey. To evaluate the variable emotional intelligence, the Instrument was the Trait Meta-Mood Scale (TMMS-24), adapted from Gonzales and Sánchez, consisting of 24 items with 5 options (Likert scale) with three dimensions and to evaluate the variable work stress, it was used. The Nursing Stress Scale questionnaire, modified by Huamani and Olivas, consists of 34 items with 4 options (Likert scale) with three dimensions. The data will be incorporated into a database in the Excel 2016 software where the information of the instruments applied will be recorded in Excel 2021, the non-parametric test of the Chi-square test will also be applied using the SPSS version 26 program.
