Publicación Acceso abierto Estudio sobre las características de prescripción de antimicrobianos en el puesto de salud Ayacucho durante el periodo octubre–noviembre 2014(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2015) Ignación Palomino, Vilma; Palomino Maldonado, Luis; Caldas Herrera, EmmaMicrobial resistance constitutes a global problem, driven by the irrational use of antimicrobials, which leads to a decline in their therapeutic effectiveness and the need to search for new antimicrobials capable of controlling infections caused by these microorganisms. Therefore, the present study aimed to examine the characteristics of antimicrobial prescriptions at the Ayacucho Health Post during the period of October–November 2014. An observational, descriptive, longitudinal, and prospective study was conducted, following the model established by the Study Protocol on the Characteristics of Prescription, Availability, and Dispensing of Antimicrobials in Primary Health Care Facilities, issued by DIGEMID – MINSA. The results indicated that 55.5% of medical prescriptions contained at least one antimicrobial. The most common diagnoses were acute pharyngitis (41%), bacterial intestinal infection (8%), and other acute infections of multiple sites of the upper respiratory tract (7%). The most prescribed antibiotics were amoxicillin (43%), ciprofloxacin (17%), and sulfamethoxazole-trimethoprim (9%). Regarding prescription characteristics, 100% of antibiotics were prescribed by International Nonproprietary Name (INN), and 99.8% belonged to the National List of Essential Medicines. The prescription recorded the dose in 99.8% of cases, the administration frequency in 99.6%, the duration of treatment in 67.8%, and the indication in 99.1%. The most commonly used route of administration was oral (96.3%). A high antimicrobial consumption (55.5%) was observed. Overall, prescribers were found to comply optimally with legal standards related to drug prescription.
