Material and Method: Retrospective observational systematic review, the search has been restricted to articles with full text obtained from the databases Pubmed, Medline, Lilacs, Scielo, Google Scholar, and the selected articles were subjected to a critical reading, using the evaluation GRADE to identify its level of evidence. Data collection was used through a bibliographic review of 10 national and international research articles, of which 30% were systematic reviews and 70% were cross-sectional studies, which had as their main topic the determining factors of adherence to treatment in adult patients with arterial hypertension. Results: - Age over 60 years as a determinant of greater adherence with 30%, female gender with 40%, being married or having a spouse or partner 30%, income level 40%, unemployment 20%, educational level with a 60%, number of medications 50%, duration of the illness 30%, beliefs, attitudes and attributions about health 30%, health professional-patient relationship 40%, access to factor health services 40%. Conclusions: The results of this study confirm that adherence to HTN treatment is due to a multiplicity of factors, which have been grouped as: sociodemographic, socioeconomic, medical, psychosocial and factors related to access to systems. health; those that have been reported as relevant in our systematic review.
