Publicación Acceso abierto Saneamiento básico y enfermedades diarreicas aguda en los pobladores del Asentamiento Humano Cerro Candela, Lima 2023(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2024-07-08) Quezada Del Águila, Diego Ernesto; Guadalupe Sifuentes de Posadas, Luz FabiolaThis basic research employed a quantitative approach and a hypothetical-deductive method, with a non-experimental, cross-sectional design and a descriptive-correlational scope. A total of 384 inhabitants were selected as the sample, using a survey as the data collection technique and a questionnaire as the instrument. For the required inferential analyses, Pearson’s Chi-square test was applied as the statistical method. Results: Regarding basic sanitation, 40.9% of the inhabitants presented inadequate conditions, 27.6% regular, and 31.5% adequate. Concerning acute diarrheal diseases (ADDs), 51.6% of the population reported their presence, while 48.4% did not. When analyzing the relationship between basic sanitation and ADDs, statistical significance was found [χ² = 65.164; p = 0.000], and Cramer’s V coefficient (V = 0.412) indicated a moderate relationship strength. Likewise, a significant relationship was found between ADDs and the dimensions of solid waste disposal and management (p = 0.000); wastewater and excreta disposal and management (p = 0.000); and drinking water supply (p = 0.000). Conclusion: A moderate relationship was found between basic sanitation and acute diarrheal diseases in the studied population.
