    Factors that influence treatment adherence in diabetic patients at the Barranca Cajatambo Hospital during the period april – may, 2024

    Introduction: The WHO estimates that around 62 million people in the Americas (422 million worldwide) have diabetes; a large proportion of them live in low- and middle-income countries, and each year, 244,084 people die from this disease globally. In recent decades, there has been a constant increase in the number of cases and prevalence. For this reason, it is important to study the factors influencing treatment adherence in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Materials and Methods: Observational, correlational, analytical cross-sectional study. A survey was replicated to evaluate factors influencing adherence, calculating a significant sample of 180 people from the diabetic foot program at Barranca Cajatambo Hospital between April-May 2024. Conclusions: Adequate basic knowledge and proper knowledge of glycemic control are associated with good treatment adherence for this condition.
