Ítem Acceso abierto Resilience and depressive symptoms in institutionalized adolescents and young people in religious shelters. Peru - 2021(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2022-02-28) Quispe Caballero, Yuly; Candela Ayllón, Victor EduardoThe research was developed to determine the correlation between resilience and depressive symptomatology in adolescents and young people institutionalized in religious foster homes in Peru in 2021. It was a study conducted using the hypothetical-deductive method with a quantitative approach, descriptive correlational scope, and a non-experimental cross-sectional design. A total of 122 adolescents and young people were evaluated using the Wagnild and Young Resilience Scale and the Beck Depression Inventory II - adapted (BDI-IIA). The results showed that resilience and depressive symptomatology were highly significantly correlated (p<.001); the association of these variables described a negative slope (rho<0) with moderate-high strength and a large effect size. The study concludes that adolescents who have adequately developed resilience—meaning personal skills to face difficulties and successfully overcome potentially catastrophic problems—experience fewer symptoms associated with depression.
