    Level of knowledge on hospital solid waste disposal and its relationship with practice in students of the 10th cycle of nursing at a private university in Lima, 2023

    Objective: To determine the relationship between the level of knowledge of hospital solid waste disposal and the practice of nursing students in the 10th cycle of a private university in Lima, 2023. Research methods: The hypothetical-deductive method was used, with a quantitative, correlational, non-experimental design. The population consisted of 166 nursing students, where a sample of 113 nursing students was obtained. As for the data collection technique, a survey and an observation guide were used, one to measure the level of knowledge and the other for the practice of hospital solid waste disposal, with 20 and 10 items respectively. Instruments validated by expert judgement from the research studies of Ramos A, 2019 and Reyes C, 2019; with a reliability of 0.89 and 0.85 Cronbach's alpha correspondingly. Results: It is shown that 43.97% of nursing students indicate a good level of knowledge about solid waste disposal, 45.69% presented a regular level of knowledge, and finally 10.34% obtained a low level of knowledge. With regard to practice 34.48% of the nursing students show adequate practice regarding solid waste disposal, 53.45% show regular disposal practice and lastly 12.07% showed inadequate solid waste disposal practice. Conclusions: It is concluded that there is a statistically significant relationship between the level of knowledge of hospital solid waste disposal and practice among students of the 10th cycle of nursing at a private university in Lima, with a good positive correlation (Rho=.657).
