Publicación Acceso abierto Interacciones medicamentosas potenciales en prescripciones médicas atendidas en el servicio de unidad de terapia intensiva pediatría del Hospital Nacional Docente Madre Niño San Bartolomé durante el periodo de enero–junio del 2014(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2015) Cáceres Manrique, Linda Carol; Quispe Huisa, Diana Lucy; Martínez Vargas Araníbar, Humberto NazarioThe present study aimed to identify potential drug–drug interactions (pDDIs) in medical prescriptions of polymedicated and hospitalized pediatric patients with a hospital stay longer than two days, during the period January–June 2014, in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit of the Hospital Nacional Docente Madre Niño San Bartolomé. A descriptive, retrospective, and cross-sectional study was carried out. Data were collected from medical prescriptions, and the study population consisted of 59 patients of both sexes who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Of these, 57 patients (96.6%) presented at least one potential drug–drug interaction, while 2 patients (3.4%) did not. A total of 3,486 pDDIs were identified. By sex, 35 patients (59.3%) were male and 24 (40.7%) female. The age group with the highest frequency of pDDIs was children aged 0–3 years (78%). The most frequent interacting drug pairs were midazolam + ranitidine (5.82%), fentanyl + ranitidine (5.76%), fentanyl + midazolam (4.79%), and metoclopramide + midazolam (3.84%), with other interactions accounting for 56.54%. Regarding onset, 88.04% were unspecified/unknown, 6.34% slow, and 5.62% rapid. By severity, 60.1% were moderate, 24.1% major, 13.7% minor, and 2.1% contraindicated. Mechanism analysis showed 52.12% pharmacokinetic and 47.88% pharmacodynamic interactions. Potential drug–drug interactions were analyzed using drug interaction databases and bibliographic references (Micromedex, Drugs.com, Medscape).Publicación Acceso abierto Prescripción de antimicrobianos restringidos en pacientes hospitalizados del Hospital Nacional Docente Madre Niño San Bartolomé, en el año 2019(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2019-07-03) Quispe Huisa, Diana Lucy; Caldas Herrera, María EvelinaThis research, titled "Prescription of Restricted Antimicrobials in Hospitalized Patients at the San Bartolomé National Teaching Hospital for Mothers and Children," aimed to determine the characteristics of restricted antimicrobial prescriptions for hospitalized patients at the same hospital in 2019. This descriptive, retrospective, and cross-sectional study reviewed 349 medical prescriptions with restricted antimicrobials. A data collection sheet, validated by expert judgment, was used to gather all the necessary information, which was then processed using Microsoft Excel 2016 and SPSS version 24.0. The results revealed that a total of 401 restricted antimicrobials were prescribed. Regarding the quantity of restricted antimicrobials per prescription, 85.4% (298) of them corresponded to a single drug, while combinations of two and three drugs accounted for 14.3% (50) and 0.3% (1), respectively. The most common diagnoses were bacterial sepsis in newborns at 22.3% (78), followed by septicemia at 14.6% (51), and acute respiratory failure at 5.7% (20). The most frequently prescribed restricted antimicrobials were Vancomycin (23.7% or 95), Meropenem (23.4% or 94), and Ceftriaxone (20.9% or 84). The service with the highest rate of restricted antimicrobial prescriptions was Pediatric Surgery at 33.5% (117), followed by Gynecology at 14.0% (49). The study concludes that the characteristics of these restricted antimicrobial prescriptions do not comply with established prescribing guidelines.
