Publicación Acceso abierto Nivel de conocimiento en relación a su aplicación práctica en el manejo de residuos sólidos hospitalarios, Departamento de Estomatología del Hospital Nacional Hipólito Unanue, Lima - 2023(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2023-06-05) Quispe Paredes, Miriam Yandhely; Mendoza Arana, Pedro JesusObjective: To determine the relationship between the level of knowledge and the practical application in the management of solid waste in the health personnel of the stomatology department of the Hospital Nacional Hipolito Unanue, 2023. Methodology: this study was of a correlational type because it seeks a relationship between two variables, non-experimental, cross-sectional and retrospective. The sample was 80 health personnel corresponding to the stomatology department of the HNHU, 2023 Results: 80 people who worked in the stomatology department of the Hipólito Unanue National Hospital were evaluated, of which 45 (56.3%) had a good level of knowledge about solid waste management and in turn 25 (31.3%) applied the knowledge in practice poorly, 18 (22.5%) good and 2 (2.5%) excellent. Of the 35 (43.7%) people with an excellent level of knowledge, 13 (16.2%) applied excellently, 12 (15%) poorly and 10 (12.5%) good. In addition, it was found that the relationship between knowledge and practical application was statistically significant (p<0.05). Of the 80 people evaluated, 38 (47.5%) were interns, 16 (20%) dental surgeons, 16 (20%) residents and 10 (12.5%) technicians. The majority of interns and residents poorly applied knowledge about RSH; while dental surgeons and technicians in a good way. When evaluating the relationship, it was observed that it was statistically significant (p<0.05). Conclusions: The present findings demonstrated the need to organize continuing education programs in the form of symposiums, seminars; and workshops on biomedical waste management (BMW) to raise awareness among healthcare professionals (HCP).
