Ítem Acceso abierto Effectiveness of sodium bicarbonate versus sodium chloride in preventing contrast-induced nephropathy in patients with kidney disease(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2018-08-26) Quispe Vargas, Cirila; Quinde Galvez, Olivia; Glenni Garay, Zarely ZabeliTo systematize the evidence on the effectiveness of sodium bicarbonate versus sodium chloride in the prevention of contrast-induced nephropathy in patients with kidney disease. Material and Methods: Observational and retrospective systematic review, the search has been restricted to systematic reviews with full text, which have been selected because they have been subjected to a critical reading, using the GRADE evaluation to identify their level of evidence. Results: It is observed that when carrying out the selection of systematic reviews, the results were that 70% (7/10) of evidence demonstrate that sodium bicarbonate is more effective than sodium chloride for the prevention of contrast-induced nephropathy. in patients with kidney disease, while sodium bicarbonate is not superior in efficacy in 20% (2/10) of the evidence found and 10% (1/10) there are no differences between the baking soda and sodium chloride. Conclusions: It is established that sodium bicarbonate is more effective than sodium chloride for the prevention of contrast-induced nephropathy in patients with kidney disease. Which implies a lower possibility of risk of longer hospital stay.
