Ítem Acceso abierto Effectiveness of an educational intervention on healthy lunchbox knowledge and content for preschoolers' mothers(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2015) Quilca Calatayud, Gissella Mercedes; Ramírez Aliaga, Roxana; Cruz Pardo, Luz MaríaGeneral Objective: To determine the effectiveness of an educational intervention on knowledge of healthy lunchboxes and their contents among mothers of preschool children at the Patricia Teresa Rodríguez 3019 Educational Institution in Rímac, 2015. Materials and Methods: This study adopted a quantitative approach, with a pre-experimental and longitudinal design. The sample consisted of 25 mothers from the Patricia Teresa Rodríguez 3019 School – UGEL 02 Rímac. The instrument used was a questionnaire, and the data were processed using the Excel program, with descriptive statistics applied. Results: Before the educational intervention (EI), 52% (13) of the mothers had a low level of knowledge about healthy lunchboxes; after the EI, 100% (25) reached a high level. Before the EI, 68% (17) had a low level of knowledge about types of foods; after the EI, 96% (24) reached a high level. Before the EI, 56% (14) had a low level of knowledge about healthy lunchbox preparation methods, and 44% (11) had a medium level; after the EI, 100% (25) reached a high level. Before the EI, 64% (16) had a low level of knowledge about the contents of healthy lunchboxes; after the educational intervention, 100% (25) of the mothers achieved a high level. Conclusion: The educational intervention was effective in enhancing the mothers' knowledge about healthy lunchboxes, as improvements were observed in their understanding after participating, with all mothers achieving a high level of knowledge.
