Ítem Acceso abierto Efficacy of turmeric in chronic kidney disease patients to reduce progressive kidney deterioration(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2019-11-24) Ramírez Rengifo, Ingrid Nataly; Velasque Lazo, Olga Olinda; Arevalo Marcos, Rodolfo AmadoOBJECTIVE: Systematize the evidence on the effectiveness of turmeric in patients with chronic kidney disease to reduce the progressive deterioration of the kidneys. MATERIAL AND METHOD: The study has a systematic, observational and retrospective review design; of articles with full text, which identified their grade or quality of evidence according to the Grade System. Likewise, the population was made up of 10 articles obtained from the following databases Pubmed, Medline, Embase, Cochrane Library, Dialnet, Scielo, and Lilacs. Of which 60% correspond to randomized clinical studies and 40% to systematic review design, corresponding to the countries of Iran 30%, Switzerland 10%, Germany 10%, China 10%, Spain 10%, Canada 10%, Chile 10 % and Mexico 10%. RESULTS: Of the 10 articles reviewed, 100% demonstrate the effectiveness of turmeric in patients with chronic kidney disease to reduce the progressive deterioration of the kidneys. CONCLUSIONS: Of the 10 articles reviewed, 10 out of 10 show that turmeric in patients with chronic kidney disease is effective in reducing the functional deterioration of the kidneys; with nephroprotective effects, preventing the progression of kidney disease, with anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties; therefore, leading them to improve their quality of life.
