Factores asociados a anemia en niños de 6 a 23 meses atendidos en un establecimiento de salud, Chaclacayo 2024-2025

Objective: To determine the relationship between associated factors and anemia in children aged 6 to 23 months, treated at a health facility, Chaclacayo 2024-2025. Materials and methods: A quantitative, cross-sectional, correlational study was conducted with 150 children. Document analysis was used and associated factors (sociodemographic, maternal and child health, and nutritional status) and anemia were correlated using a binomial logistic regression model (crude and adjusted OR). Results: Anemia was present in 29.3% of the children evaluated. Maternal and child health factors included gestational anemia (ORa=7.68; p<0.001), low birth weight (ORa=6.49; p=0.031), and acute respiratory infection in the last two weeks (ORa=5.19; p<0.001) which were associated with a higher risk of anemia. Regarding nutritional factors, lower frequency of consumption of iron-rich foods, specifically 1 to 2 times per week (ORa=0.01; p<0.001) and 1 to 3 times per month (ORa=0.01; p<0.001) reduced the probability of not presenting anemia by 99%. Low iron intake was considered a risk factor. Likewise, iron supplementation was shown to be a protective factor, decreasing the risk of anemia by 97% (ORa=0.03; p<0.001). Conclusion: A relationship was evidenced between associated factors and anemia in children aged 6 to 23 months, specifically with maternal and child health factors (gestational anemia, low birth weight, and acute respiratory infection in the last two weeks) and nutritional factors (low consumption of iron-rich foods as a risk factor and iron supplementation as a protective factor).
