Self-care of patients with chronic renal failure undergoing hemodialysis treatment at the los Cipreses Nephrological Center, Lima 2019

Objective: to determine the self-care of patients with chronic renal failure undergoing hemodialysis treatment at the Los Cipreses Nephrological Center, Lima 2019. Material and method: The study method used was quantitative and non-experimental, descriptive and cross-sectional in design. Likewise, we worked with the entire included population, with the participation of 60 adult patients who attended their continuous hemodialysis treatment at the Los Cipreses nephrology center, and also met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The data collection technique was the survey and the data collection instrument used was the self-care assessment questionnaire for patients undergoing hemodialysis treatment, which consists of 22 items. results: the most frequent age group was between 36 and 64 years of age (50%), 60% were men, half (50%) of the patients had a secondary level of education, while 40% had a single marital status, in addition, 60% had an arteriovenous fistula as vascular access. Regarding self-care of patients regarding their vascular access, 40% obtained an inadequate level, 35% poorly adequate and 25% was adequate. conclusions: the level of self-care is inadequate among patients undergoing hemodialysis, which is worrying because this would generate a greater problem, since it predisposes to the possibility of complications due to inadequate care.
