Publicación Acceso abierto Actividad antioxidante y antiinflamatoria del extracto etanólico de las hojas de Passiflora tripartita var. mollissima (Kunth) "tumbo serrano"(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2019-03-08) Ramos Huamaní, Hilda; Pari Colque, Regina; Chávez Flores, Juana ElviraThe plant species Passiflora tripartita var. mollissima (Kunth), commonly known as “tumbo serrano,” is native to Peru and grows in the regions of Cuzco, Lambayeque, Lima, Pasco, Piura, and Talara. The objective of this study was to determine the antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activity of the ethanolic extract of Passiflora tripartita var. mollissima leaves. The ethanolic extract was obtained by maceration, after which solubility testing and phytochemical screening were conducted to identify secondary metabolites. Antioxidant activity was evaluated using the DPPH method, while anti-inflammatory activity was assessed through the paw edema test induced by a phlogistic agent (1% albumin). The results demonstrated antioxidant activity at the following concentrations: 125 µg/mL (79.55%), 93.75 µg/mL (60.99%), 62.5 µg/mL (41.93%), and 31.25 µg/mL (21.82%). Compared with the TROLOX standard, the extract also showed significant anti-inflammatory activity, with a dose of 600 mg/kg producing an effect from the first hour of administration (p = 0.000), which was comparable to that of dexamethasone at 4 mg. In conclusion, the ethanolic extract of Passiflora tripartita var. mollissima leaves exhibits both antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activity.
