(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2021-06-09) Luque Lipa, Miguel; Marquez Vega, Rosalinda; Ramos Jaco, Antonio Guillermo
The present research work aimed to evaluate the antioxidant activity and antibacterial effect of the essential oil of Citrus sinensis peels variety Valencia Late. The extraction of the essential oil was carried out by steam distillation. The antibacterial effect was evaluated against the strains of Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923 and Escherichia coli ATCC 12228 following the agar diffusion method and the antioxidant activity was determined by the DPPH radical method (2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl). It is a quasi-experimental and quantitative research work. For the results in the antibacterial effect, a nonparametric Kruskal Wallis test was used. Regarding the antioxidant activity in the essential oil of Citrus sinensis peels variety Valencia Late, the IC50 (minimum concentration necessary to inhibit 50% of DPPH) was determined by a linear regression adjustment. The results were illustrated using bar charts and box plots. It was concluded that the essential oil of Citrus sinensis variety Valencia Late exhibits antibacterial effects against the two strains tested and antioxidant activity against the DPPH radical.

The main objective was to analyze the results of therapeutic equivalence studies of multi-source drugs compared to the innovator drug. A basic-descriptive study with a non-experimental design was conducted. The methodology applied was a systematic review and documentary analysis. Complete, open-access studies were analyzed, including undergraduate and master's theses, scientific articles, and indexed journals, with a publication range no older than 5 years (2016–2021). A total of 41 in vitro therapeutic bioequivalence studies were analyzed in this research. Data collection and processing were performed using Excel version 2019 spreadsheets. Results: The data processing results reflect that in 25 of the therapeutic bioequivalence studies (61%), the medications did not present bioequivalence or interchangeability. In 16 studies (39%), the medications showed therapeutic equivalence and demonstrated interchangeability with respect to the innovator drug. Conclusion: It is necessary to demand, through the national drug authority, that all multi-source drugs available in the pharmaceutical market possess therapeutic bioequivalence studies in order to guarantee an adequate and optimal treatment for patients in general, ensuring quality alternatives in terms of medications.

The process of dispensing drugs is a fundamental part of a patient's pharmacotherapy, aiming to promote, prevent, restore, and rehabilitate the population's health. This study's objective was to evaluate the Good Dispensing Practices for antibiotics in pharmaceutical establishments in the district of Comas, Lima, during the period of January-July 2021. The methodology used was an observational, cross-sectional, and prospective design. A data collection instrument was used for a sample of 200 individuals dedicated to dispensing in pharmacies and drugstores in the Comas district. The study evaluated four dimensions: reception and validation of prescriptions, type of pharmaceutical establishment, product delivery, and information. The results show that 81.5% of those evaluated complied with Good Dispensing Practices in the dimensions of validation and reception of medical prescriptions. Specifically, 100% compliance was found in the verification of medical prescription validity, while in the case of drugstores, it was only 83%. In the professionalism indicator, there was 100% non-compliance in scenarios without a medical prescription and 85% non-compliance in scenarios with a medical prescription. Regarding the delivery of products and information, a high non-compliance rate was evidenced, at 98.5% and 97% for the scenarios with and without medical prescriptions, respectively. Furthermore, in Table 2 and Figure 2, a higher level of compliance was observed in pharmacies compared to drugstores across all indicators, with the greatest difference in the verification of prescription validity (100% in pharmacies vs. 83% in drugstores). In conclusion, a high percentage of non-compliance with good dispensing practices exists in both scenarios, which can lead to complications in patient treatment.

(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2024-10-02) Pinillos Armas, Cristian Herles; Ramos Jaco, Antonio Guillermo
Objective: To determine the compatibility between calcium and phosphorus in parenteral nutrition prescriptions at the Neonatology Service of the Víctor Lazarte Echegaray Hospital, from May to August 2022. Methodology: A quantitative, deductive analysis with an observational, descriptive, retrospective, and cross-sectional design. Data collection was based on observation, and the instrument used was a data collection form applied to seventy-five medical records from the Neonatology Service of the Víctor Lazarte Echegaray Hospital, from May to August 2022. Results: The study shows that in newborns, the highest frequency (48.0%) was found among those weighing between 1500 g and 2400 g, and the lowest frequency (8.0%) among those weighing less than 1000 g. The percentage of newborns who received parenteral nutrition was determined according to calcium compatibility. and phosphorus is at greater compatibility (76.0%) and at greater incompatibility (24.0%). The percentage of newborns according to compatibility between Calcium-Phosphorus shows the concentration of those given with days of TPN are compatible because they are not outside the concentration limits. And the percentage of newborns according to the precipitation factor shows that concentrations less than or equal to 20, 30, and 35 exceed the precipitation on the compatibility of calcium and phosphorus. Conclusion: Compatibility between Calcium-Phosphorus was determined, showing compatibility (76.0%) and incompatibility (24.0%). According to the concentration of amino acids, there is compatibility at their established concentrations. According to the precipitation factor, they exceed the permitted limits.

The methodology was hypothetical-inductive and used a quantitative, basic, non-experimental, cross-sectional, descriptive, and observational approach. For data collection, a 28-question questionnaire was applied to a sample of 184 students. The Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) was used for data processing, and Cronbach's alpha coefficient, with a result of 0.837, was used to measure reliability. The results showed that 57.1% of students had a high level of knowledge, 41.8% had a regular level, and 1.1% had a low level. Similarly, 67.4% of students used the disinfectants correctly, 30.4% used them regularly, and 2.2% used them deficiently, as recommended by MINSA. In conclusion, the students from the ninth and tenth cycles of the 2021-II semester at the Faculty of Pharmacy and Biochemistry of Norbert Wiener University have a high level of knowledge of the disinfectants recommended by MINSA and use them correctly.

Conocimiento de riesgo toxicológico para evitar enfermedades respiratorias por exposición al formaldehido en limpiadores domésticos: una revisión sistemática

All people may be exposed to formaldehyde through products that contain this compound. In general, higher concentrations of formaldehyde are found in indoor air than in outdoor air, since many household products release formaldehyde into the environment. You can inhale formaldehyde when using products such as cleaning agents, disinfectants, cosmetics, hair straightening products, among others. Exposure to formaldehyde may cause a toxicological risk. The symptoms appear immediately and abruptly, irritating the respiratory tract and potentially causing death, while chronic damage occurs through prolonged exposure over years. The objective of this research is to identify whether knowledge of toxicological risk makes it possible to prevent respiratory diseases caused by exposure to formaldehyde in household cleaners. The methodology used was analytical, deductive and inductive, with a quantitative approach. It was an applied, descriptive, bivariate study, with a non-experimental, cross-sectional design. Our population consisted of the bibliographic review of 30 scientific articles published and indexed in scientific databases. It was concluded, based on the review of 30 bibliographic articles, that formaldehyde presents a high toxicological risk to health. It was classified by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) in Group 1 (carcinogenic to humans), causing harm to respiratory health as well as other health conditions. This was supported by the Student’s t-test, in which the bilateral significance value was 0.000, being lower than 0.05, thereby confirming the general hypothesis.
