Publicación Acceso abierto Riesgos en salud ocupacional por exposición de solventes orgánicos y niveles de fenoles totales en empleados de la industria gráfica del distrito de Villa el Salvador(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2021-08-18) Olaya Herrera, Maritza Aracelly; Ramos Sandoval, Judith Carmen; Ramos Jaco, Antonio GuillermoThis research focused on determining the level of health risks from exposure to organic solvents and total phenol levels in employees of the graphic industry in the Villa El Salvador district. The methodology was a deductive method and a non-experimental design. The sample consisted of 90 graphic industry employees. The approach was quantitative, as the data were statistically analyzed to test the research hypothesis. The instrument used was a questionnaire, which was validated by expert judgment from occupational and chemical professionals. This test evaluated employees at a single point in time to corroborate their knowledge of occupational risks. The total phenol analysis in urine was performed using the spectrophotometric method according to the techniques of Banfi and Marenzi. The values found in the urine samples showed a high level of benzene exposure, as the values were above the WHO reference value of 75mg/L for phenols. The results also showed that the majority of employees were male and had a secondary education, with high concentrations of total phenols. It was concluded that constant exposure to organic solvents presents physical and chemical risks to employees, due to a lack of knowledge about health prevention measures and inadequate specification of occupational safety and health regulations.
