Self-care and quality of life in patients with renal disease on hemodialysis in a hospital, Lima 2022

Introduction: The situation of this disease in the world is alarming; various institutions such as PAHO and WHO have warned of its exponential growth. In Peru, a high rate of patients with this condition is also observed. Objective: Determine how self-care is related to quality of life in patients with kidney disease on hemodialysis in a hospital, Lima 2022. Method: The research method was deductive, whose research approach is quantitative. Also the type of research is correlational, non-experimental design, cross-sectional, correlational and descriptive model. The population is made up of 50 patients with kidney disease from a hospital in Lima; The sample is census type, so we will work with all elements of the population. The data collection instruments are two questionnaires with a Likert scale. The first questionnaire on Self-care consists of 22 items and measures the dimensions of Nutrition and fluid control, Personal hygiene and skin care, Treatment and care of vascular access, Rest, sleep and recreation, and Interpersonal relationships. The second questionnaire on Quality of Life has 32 items and measures the variables of physical, psychological and social well-being. Both instruments have a very good validity and reliability of 0.860 and 0.811, respectively. Finally, the schedule and budget for the development of the research project were determined.
