Anthropometric parameters such as Body Mass Index (BMI), albumin, and hemoglobin levels are important tools used to evaluate nutritional status in patients with various chronic diseases, both physical and mental. Therefore, the objective of this study was to determine the relationship between nutritional status and types of depression in patients attending the San Juan Bautista Community Mental Health Center in Ayacucho, 2023. The methodology employed was deductive-hypothetical, quantitative, basic, non-experimental, and descriptive-correlational cross-sectional, reviewing 61 medical records of patients diagnosed with different types of mental depression. The results showed that moderate depressive episodes were the most frequent, with a normal BMI and a level of Mild malnutrition was observed with respect to albumin levels, and mild anemia with respect to hemoglobin levels, with percentages of 34.4%, 37.7%, and 37.7%, respectively. Spearman's rank correlation coefficient was used to analyze the data, revealing a relationship between the analyzed variables, with a p-value < 0.05. It is concluded that a relationship exists between the analyzed variables, with a p-value < 0.05.
