Publicación Acceso abierto Frecuencia de automedicación y riesgo de reacciones adversas medicamentosas en adultos que asisten a boticas y farmacias del distrito de Puente Piedra – 2022(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2023-11-10) Reaño Seput, Betty Stefhanie; Caldas Herrera, EmmaThrough the observational-deductive method in a cross-sectional timeline, a survey was conducted on a sample of 384 adults who attended different pharmaceutical establishments in the district of Puente Piedra, with the purpose of evaluating the frequency, factors, and causes of self-medication, as well as measuring the level of knowledge on the subject within the population of the district. The results, represented in bar charts, showed that self-medication was present in 94.5% of the surveyed sample in Puente Piedra, and approximately half of them usually resort to it when experiencing respiratory discomfort and general pain, seeking analgesics, antihistamines, and anti-inflammatory drugs without medical prescription. The most common reaction reported when consuming medication was dry mouth, and most participants frequently experienced stomach discomfort after taking NSAIDs. Finally, approximately half of the surveyed sample demonstrated a low level of knowledge regarding the meaning of self-medication and were those who reported practicing it on a weekly basis. In conclusion, the study reveals a monthly frequency of visits to pharmaceutical establishments, and stomach discomfort, dry mouth, drowsiness, and difficulty breathing are some of the possible adverse reactions that may occur.
