Ítem Acceso abierto Self-care and quality of life of adult patients with type II diabetes mellitus who attend the national hospital of Lima, 2023(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2023-10-12) Reategui Romero, Katherine Judith; Cárdenas de Fernández, María HildaThe objective of this research work is"Determine the relationship between self-care and quality of life of adult patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus." Methodology: hypotheticaldeductive method, with a quantitative approach, being of the type of research is applied orientation, retrospective time, cross-sectional period and correlational design, without intervention. The sample is made up of 80 patients, of which it was for convenience. The instruments to be used will be two questionnaires for self-care and quality of life, which were carried out by Luque and Villanueva in 2020, in addition, the questionnaires were validated by expert judgment and also in self-care reliability was found with the Cronbach's Alpha coefficient of 0.984 and in the quality of life the reliability was found with the Cronbach's Alpha coefficient of 0.886 and the collection of the database will be through questionnaires which will be processed, coded and entered into a database in the Excel program and processed using the statistical program SPSS version 25. Results: 8.8% of the patients have very adequate self-care and in their dimensions 53.8% of the patients have an inadequate level of nutrition and that 60 0.0% of patients have an inadequate level of physical activity. In the second variable, 53.8% of the patients have a poor level of quality of life. Conclusion: It is determined that, if there is a statistically significant relationship between the food dimension of self-care and the quality of life of adult patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus who attend al Hospital Nacional de Lima, 2023; obtaining a very good positive correlation coefficient, since it presented a (Rho= 0.912; p < .001), which allowed us to reject the null hypothesis and accept the alternate hypothesis.
