Various studies have investigated the role of omega 3 in obesity, with scattered results that do not allow their recommendation. This study is titled: critical review: Correlation of dietary or supplemental omega-3 consumption and malnutrition due to excess; The objective was to correlate the consumption of omega 3 with malnutrition due to excess and to make a critical comment on the selected article. The clinical question was: Is the consumption of dietary or supplemental Omega 3 beneficial in the treatment of men and women over 18 years of age with overweight or obesity? The methodology used was Evidence-Based Nutrition (NuBE), information was searched in PUBMED, SCOPUS, REDALYC and HINARI, finding 37 articles, of which 16 were evaluated through the CASPE tool, selecting the systematic review: Effects of omega-3 supplementation on body weight and body fat mass: A systematic review, with AI level of evidence and Strong recommendation grade. It is concluded that there is no consensus that omega-3 is beneficial in losing weight or body fat mass in humans.
