    Factores asociados a la prescripción de psicofármacos en adultos mayores atendidos en un hospital nacional de SMP, Lima-2025

    The study aimed to identify the factors associated with the prescription of psychotropic drugs in older adults treated at a national hospital in San Martín de Porres, Lima, during 2025; an analytical method was used, with a quantitative approach, basic type, non-experimental design, cross sectional cut and descriptive level, including a sample of older adults and using questionnaires and observation guides as instruments; results showed a significant association between the prescription of psychotropic drugs and sociodemographic factors (age, educational level, occupation, income and marital status), biological factors (presence of chronic diseases, functional deterioration, memory problems and dependency), and psychosocial factors (symptoms of depression, discrimination, loneliness and absence of family/friend support), with SSRI antidepressants being the most prescribed drugs; it was concluded that sociodemographic, biological and psychosocial factors are significantly associated with the prescription of psychotropic drugs in older adults, highlighting the importance of comprehensive geriatric mental health care.
