Ítem Acceso abierto Perception of hemodialysis patients regarding self-care and its relationship with sociodemographic characteristics at Hospital Nacional Edgardo Rebagliati Martins, 2016(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2017) Davila Crisanto, Yery Judith; Rengifo Tipto, Leopoldo; Gómez Gonzales, Walter EdgarObjective: To determine the perception of hemodialysis patients about self-care and its relationship with sociodemographic characteristics at the Edgardo Rebagliati Martins National Hospital. Materials and methods: This research study was applied, quantitative, and descriptive correlational, prospective, as it allowed us to obtain information as it presented in reality; cross-sectional, as it described the phenomenon. The population consisted of 90 users attended in the hemodialysis unit of the HNERM. The technique used was an interview and the instrument was a questionnaire and modified Likert scale, which included an introduction, instructions, general data, and content with 22 items with three response alternatives: always (3), sometimes (2), never (1) for positive statements; never (3), sometimes (2), always (1) for negative statements. It was validated for content and construct by eight health professionals, including nurses, teachers, assistants, and administrators. Results: The perception of hemodialysis patients regarding self-care was 65% favorable, with a tendency towards patient satisfaction, largely related to the hygiene dimension. Regarding the dimensions: in the hygiene dimension, the perception of hemodialysis patients about self-care was 37% favorable, with a tendency toward user satisfaction. In the nutrition and physical activity dimensions, the perception of patients was somewhat unfavorable (38%), with no tendency toward user satisfaction in these dimensions. Conclusion: It is evident that most patients perceive self-care somewhat unfavorably, but it should be noted that a good percentage perceives the care favorably. No relationship was found between the perception of self-care and the sociodemographic characteristics of hemodialysis patients.
