The clinical question was: Will nutritional intervention with probiotic supplements improve health status (effect on inflammatory markers and glucose homeostasis) of adult patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus? To evaluate articles, the NuBE methodology (Evidence-Based Nutrition methodology) was used. The databases used in the search for articles were: Pubmed/MEDLINE, Science direct, WOS and SCOPUS, where 37 articles were found, 10 were selected that have been evaluated by the CASPE critical reading tool, finally selecting the Randomized Clinical Trial. titled as “Effects of probiotic supplementation on inflammatory markers and glucose homeostasis in adults with type 2 Diabetes Mellitus: Systematic review.”, which has a level of evidence A I and Grade of Strong Recommendation, according to the expertise of the researcher. The critical comment allowed us to conclude that there is sufficient evidence to affirm the beneficial effect of nutritional intervention with probiotics to improve the health of adult type 2 diabetic patients with comorbidities.
