Ítem Acceso abierto Effectiveness of non-nutritive sucking in the development of oral feeding and improvement of clinical variables in premature newborns(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2019-12-01) Reyes Fernandez, Dina Ruth; Rojas Trejo, Yovana; Matta Solis, Hernán HugoObjective: Systematize the evidence about the effectiveness of non-nutritive sucking in the development of feeding and improvement of clinical variables. Materials and Methods: The design used was a systematic review, which uses the synthesis process of research results, being a fundamental contribution to evidence-based nursing. Results: Of the 10 selected articles, 40% (n=4) were systematic reviews, 40% (n=4) clinical trials, 10% (n=1) experimental study and 10% (n=1) quasi-experimental. Furthermore, 50% (n=5) studies come from the American continent, while the other 50% (n=5) belong to the Asian continent. The results of the 10 selected studies reflect that 100% (n=10) show effectiveness of non-nutritive sucking for the transition to complete oral feeding and improvement of clinical variables in preterm newborns. Conclusions: There is evidence of the effectiveness of non-nutritive sucking for the transition to complete oral feeding and improvement of clinical variables in preterm newborns.
