This is a systematic, observational, and retrospective review, in which several articles containing full-text were examined, and the selected editions were subject to a thorough reading according to the GRADE system. Ten articles were selected that relate to emotional reactions in the quality of life of patients with chronic kidney disease undergoing hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis. Of these, 20% (2/10) are descriptive studies, 70% (7/10) are analytical cohort studies, and 10% (1/10) are meta-analyses. Among the articles reviewed, 30% (3/10) were from Spain, 20% (2/10) from Mexico, 10% (1/10) from China, 10% (1/10) from Iran, 10% (1/10) from Saudi Arabia, 10% (1/10) from Cuba, and 10% (1/10) from Greece. Conclusions: Peritoneal dialysis is better in terms of quality of life for patients with chronic renal failure regarding emotional state.
