Publicación Acceso abierto Cuatro plantas medicinales y dolor cólico abdominal en adultos del mercado Virgen del Carmen Pachacamac Lima 2025(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2026-02-26) Paqui Yaranga, Licida; Rincón Chávez, JoséThe objective was to determine the relationship between the four medicinal plants and abdominal colic pain in adults from the Virgen del Carmen Market in Pachacamac. Method. 155 surveys were conducted among adults. The survey was administered on a single occasion. The variables were not manipulated. Data were analyzed using frequency analysis, and the hypothesis was tested using Spearman's rho test. The design was non-experimental, with a basic study and a correlational level. Results. 31.6% of women and 33.5% of men frequently experienced abdominal colic pain. Regarding chamomile consumption, 48.4% prepared it as an infusion; 15.5% perceived safety and efficacy, in fennel 74.2% prepared it as an infusion, 24.5% perceived safety and 31.6% efficacy, in mint 28.4% prepared it as a decoction, 51.0% perceived safety and 51.6% efficacy, in thyme consumption 47.7% prepared it as an infusion, 23.2% perceived safety and 18.1% efficacy. Regarding abdominal colic pain, 17.4% was visceral, 14.8% referred, and 31.0% somatic; 32.3% was acute, 46.5% recurrent, and 67.1% chronic; 51.6% was mild or moderate, and 27.1% severe. 21.9% experienced fatigue or sleepiness, 34.2% experienced work- related problems, and 23.2% experienced difficulties with home activities. A moderately significant relationship was evident between medicinal plants and abdominal colic pain (p=0.000; rho=0.674). Conclusion: The correlation between the use of four medicinal plants and abdominal colic pain in adults was directly and moderately significant.Publicación Acceso abierto Prevalencia del toxocara canis en excretas de perros e infecciones oculares en pobladores aledaños a los parques en el distrito de Villa El Salvador, 2024(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2025-08-04) Valderrama Rodríguez, Marcela Mercedes; Rincón Chávez, JoséThe research work is based on determining the prevalence of Toxocara canis in dog excreta and eye infections in people living near the parks of the district of Villa el Salvador, since it is common to find Toxocara canis in dog excreta, as the eggs of this parasite are expelled along with the feces. The high number of eggs generated by the adult female (250,000 per day) contributes to environmental pollution, while the methodology of the study was based on an applied quantitative approach, a non-experimental design and an analytical method. The instrument had a high reliability, the results obtained are being described in the results of the thesis, the following conclusion was reached: The prevalence of toxocara canis in dog excreta and eye infections in people living near the parks of the district of Villa el Salvador was determined. A total of 159 adult species were found in the microscopic analysis.Publicación Acceso abierto Síntomas de estreñimiento y uso de hierbas medicinales en adultos mayores del centro comercial Villa Jardín, San Luis, Lima. 2025(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2026-02-18) Ordoñez Vicente, Erika Roxana; Villafuerte Ravelo, Ana María; Rincón Chávez, JoséThe study aimed to “determine the relationship between constipation symptoms and the use of medicinal herbs in older adults at the Villa Jardín shopping center, San Luis, Lima. 2025.” Method. Applied a quantitative approach, hypothetical deductive method, correlational scope, non experimental design, sample of 123 adults, conducted a single questionnaire survey, used statistics to analyze the data, and tested the hypothesis with Spearman's rho. Results. In terms of constipation severity, 39.8% strained excessively during bowel movements, 43.9% passed hard stools, 26.8% experienced pain, and 21.1% had incomplete bowel movements. In terms of constipation habits, 28.5% consumed fiber-rich foods, 40.7% drank 1.5 L of water per day, 23.6% engaged in physical activity, and 56.9% had regular bowel movements. In terms of beliefs about constipation, 33.3% considered constipation to be a health problem, 30.1% stated that medicinal herbs are safe for treating constipation, and 63.4% stated that medicinal herbs are more effective than medications. In terms of medicinal herbs 79.7% use aloe, 55.3% chamomile, 49.6% flaxseed, 22.8% ginger, and 50.4% fennel. in terms of perceived consumption of medicinal herbs, 32.5% reported an improvement in constipation symptoms, 50.4% preferred medicinal herbs to medication, and 27.6% indicated that medicinal herbs were safe treatments; in terms of preparation methods, 40.7% used infusions, 25.2% used decoctions, and 13.0% used ethanol macerates. Conclusion. There is a highly significant positive correlation (p=0.000, rho=0.792) between constipation symptoms and the use of medicinal herbs in older adults at the Villa Jardín shopping center in San Luis, Lima. 2025.
