Ítem Acceso abierto Correlation between leukocytes and protein C, reactive in patients hospitalized for Covid-19 at Hospital San José 2020(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2022-06-04) Rios Franco, Syntia; Huamán Cárdenas, Victor RaulThe COVID-19 pandemic has affected millions of people and caused hundreds of thousands of deaths worldwide. Pneumonia and severe hypoxemia associated with severe acute respiratory syndrome caused by coronavirus infection (SARS-CoV-2) can lead to acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), which is associated with a high mortality rate. Severe acute respiratory syndrome clinical examinations found leukocytosis with the severity of infection, such as C-reactive protein. Laboratory findings show a positive relationship between the increase in C-reactive protein and leukocytes, which may relate to the severity of the inflammatory condition. Therefore, this project aims to determine the relationship between leukocytes and C-reactive protein. In this study, clinical records were used, meeting the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The method used will be a hypothetical-deductive approach with a quantitative, applied, correlational, cross-sectional, and retrospective design, utilizing SPSS tools, with results indicating a positive correlation between leukocyte levels and C-reactive protein.
